The Exante Diet – Part 3

So I have set myself a New Year Challenge! Infact, my New Year’s resolution list is endless, I think I’ve gone a bit bonkers, but luckily Exante have decided to help me out. So as of today, I am on a strict diet and exercise plan, and I want you to help me along the way. I am keeping a food diary, along with completing a daily video post, which will keep you involved with how well the diet is going, and I am going to review the foods that Exante have sent me.

So my New Year’s Resolution list goes a little bit like this:

  1. Lose weight – I currently weigh 71.2kg or 11st2, and my goal weight is 57.1kg or 9st, so a long way to go!

  2. Get fit – I must go to the gym or work out at home at least 3 days a week

  3. Learn French – I have Rosetta stone so I need to spend 30 mins per day, 3 x a week at least

  4. Stop biting my fingers – a disgusting habit that needs to go!

  5. Buy a house – this will be the fun part

As you can imagine, this is a huge challenge for me, so I am going to blog about it every step of the way, and for the next 2 weeks you will hear me rambling on about my diet struggles and successes – then who knows what will happen next.

I’m feeling pretty good on day 1, the packs that Exante kindly sent me are a huge variety, and I decided to start on ones I knew I would love. I am doing this as a 5-2 diet, so 5 days with the meal packs, and 2 days on the VLCD packs (Very low calorie diet). Tomorrow I will be on a 2, so I imagine pretty hungry!

I started today with protein pancakes, and as I didn’t have any berries at home (a suggestion from Exante of what to have with the pancakes) I went for banana. I love pancakes, and these were no exception, they tasted exactly like any other, although banana wouldn’t be my first choice again. You can get approx 3 big pancakes, or 5 small ones out of the mix, so its a good way to start the day, and allows you to feel full up when you are done, for quite a while. I’m looking forward to having these again, but next time I will make sure I’ve got some berries.

I’ve been sent packs for breakfast and dinner, so am to fend for myself for lunch, but decided that so I could have dinner this evening, I would have one of the packs for lunch. I chose to have the Beef chilli con carne, and I never thought I’d say this but it was delicious! Happy for more of those to come my way! Considering you don’t need to keep the packs in the fridge, I was slighly concerned how they would come out. I also don’t have a microwave, but luckily there are oven cooking instructions too – phew. I could smell the food cooking in the oven and I was excited, and when it came out it looked great. I knew I had slightly over-cooked the rice (this is the first time I’ve made it), but once it was mixed in with the mince it was perfect. Full of flavour, tasted just like chilli I’ve made at home in the past, and had a great kick to it. I think it is going to be hard for any of the meals to top it!

So feeling pretty good today, off to the gym tomorrow and I’m on the low calorie day, so I’m not sure how happy I will be then, but I will be sure to keep you updated.
