Simpson's Fish & Chips Easter Special - Cheltenham
Updated: May 6
How do you feel about a battered Creme Egg? When I was invited to Simpsons to try it it out, I was initially unsure. I am aware it’s something they’ve been offering for a few years, but it’s never really taken my fancy (much like a battered Mars Bar), but always happy to try new things (because that’s how I roll these days) D and I headed over there for a delicious dinner (which I’ll share with you all in a later post) followed by dessert.
You might have seen Bonny from Simpsons on This Morning this week, cooking up the delicacy for Ruth and Eamonn (who weren’t that keen – I don’t think they can love Creme Eggs like I do). The idea is taking the country by storm, as Easter gets closer (it’s next week! Please nobody buy me chocolate, I’ve got a wedding dress to get into!), and I think it’s important to remind you all that the battered Creme Egg is limited edition, and only available until Easter Sunday.
GO AND TRY ONE! THAT IS MY HONEST FEEDBACK. IT’S A DELIGHT!
Like I said, I was skeptical. But melted, gooey, liquid Creme Egg is something I never realised I needed in my life, but I do. I will most definitely be heading to Simpsons, each year, to get my fix.
The best part is that it comes as a full-on dessert, with a side of ice cream, in an egg cup. It looks amazing, smells amazing and tastes … you guessed it, amazing. Simpsons had a choice of 5 different ice cream flavours – strawberry, chocolate, vanilla, mint choc chip and honeycomb, a selection I was terribly impressed with.
When you slice off the lid of the Creme Egg (because that’s the only way to do it) the chocolate is warm and melted, and you can pour the insides out if you wish. If you don’t like the batter (are you mad!?) then it’s easy enough to scoop out the insides, but eaten with the batter it tastes like a warm Creme Egg waffle. What’s not to love?
I can’t believe I’ve written so many words about this one dessert, but I think it’s because I’ve done a full 180 – so if you’re intrigued, head to Simpson’s Fish & Chips Cheltenham, or Simpson’s Fish & Chips Stroud before Easter is over and you have to wait another 365 days to get your fix.
